The existing airport terminal building was constructed in 1947 and has undergone several renovations since that time. The building currently has substantial deficiencies and no longer adequately serves current or future aviation related service and facility needs. Murray Associates was selected to design a new terminal facility to recruit additional airlines and efficiently process increased passenger traffic through the building.

The 29,537 gsf design is very modern and energy efficient providing modern conveniences such as a passenger loading bridge for efficient circulation, especially in inclement weather, updated passenger processing and security systems. Some other new features include a passenger baggage carousel, seating for 180 passengers in the Transportations Safety Administration’s “Secure Waiting Area” for outbound passengers and comfort facilities. Tenants in the new 30,000 gsf building include a full-service travel agency, a car rental service and a “Grab and Go” food service in the lobby area. The state-of-the-art terminal replaces the original structure that was servicing the community since 1948.

The existing facility and airport operations have been maintained while new construction is occurring.
