Harrisburg expansion Project gets National Attention from Passive House Building Magazine

April 2019 – Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) works to provide affordable homeownership and rental housing options for older adults, low- and moderate-income families, and people with special housing needs. Continued agency growth has fueled a major expansion. Murray Associates Architects, P. C. has designed a new 8-story tower and retrofit to the historic Hickok House, which occupies Locust Street frontage. Both are integrated with the original building, no small challenge given the site constraints.

Passive House Building Magazine published the project in their Spring/Summer 20199 issue as both the addition and renovation were designed to Passive House and LEED Platinum sustainability standards – a first for a corporate building in the United States.

When completed in summer 2019, the project will expand PHFA’s headquarters by nearly 40,000 square feet. Murray Associates is the architect of record for the 2005 LEED Gold Certified headquarters and the 2019 expansion.
