The VMF is a comprehensive facility for servicing, maintaining and repairing all Postal Service-owned vehicles in the Harrisburg region, from local delivery vehicles to trailer trucks.

The facility houses twelve regular service bays, a body shop bay, a paint bay, a wash bay, truck fueling and oil recycling facilities, offices and storage.

The VMF was constructed to support the operation of a nearby General Mail Facility.  The General Mail Facility, also designed by Murray Associates Architects, P.C. and one of the largest in the United States.
