The new 6,708 gsf Cardiac Unit 2 story vertical expansion was designed to grow the Cardiovascular program and to create a more patient focused design while being more efficient. Patient privacy was increased, better amenities for families were provided, and innovative workflow for more efficient patient care were introduced.
The new 21 patient bay CTICU consists of 12 private patient rooms and 7 open treatment bays. There are 3 staff work zones each with central Staff Stations and Nurse Sub Stations adjacent to every 2 rooms in order to maximize patient observation. All support services are centrally located to optimize efficiencies and convenience for each of the patient care areas. In order to de clutter the corridors, soiled holding rooms are placed adjacent to every two rooms for soiled linen carts and supply carts were incorporated within the patient rooms.
Family and friends arrive at the now 13,874 gsf CTICU via elevators to a newly upgraded elevator lobby. They enter a spacious waiting room provided with comfortable seating, a large screen television, a patient tracking monitor, coffee station and a private consult room.
