City Government Center, Harrisburg, PA
Completed in 1985, the $15 million Harrisburg City Government Center is comprised of two main structures. The 71,000 gsf municipal center houses the main offices and meeting spaces for the city departments, such as the Office of the Mayor, City Treasurer, Planning, and Codes Enforcement. In addition to the city offices, the building also accommodates the City Council chambers, Public lobby and gathering areas, numerous conference rooms and meeting spaces, and restroom facilities.
The 88,000 gsf Public Safety Building is home to the Harrisburg Police Department and City Traffic Control. The basement and ground floors provide covered parking for city vehicles. The main floor contains the police Command Suite, Communications Center, Booking and Processing Center with separate cellblocks for male and female persons. Upper floors accommodate multiple squad rooms, interview rooms, polygraph suite, and evidence rooms. A large records center and administrative offices occupy much of the second floor.
