September 29, 2017-   Murray Associates Architects, P. C. is the architect for Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency’s LEED Platinum and Passive House expansion.  The project has two separate PassiveHouse systems for this project.  The first incorporates a Historic building retrofit and the second constructs a new glass tower expansion.  To our knowledge, this is the only corporate tower expansion with these sustainable design standards in the entire United States.

Benedict Dubbs, Murray Associates Design Principal, PHFA’s Wade Romberger and Prudence Ferreria, our Passive House Consultant, presented the project to the International Passive House Conference in Seattle, WA.  There was a lot on interest as this type of project has jet to be constructed.  The project is under construction and should be occupied in February of 2019.

Passive House Institute US, Inc. (PHIUS) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to making high-performance passive building the mainstream market standard.  Their mission is “To develop and promote North American passive building standards, practices, and certifications for buildings, professionals, and products to create structures that are durable, resilient, comfortable, healthy, and super energy efficient.” Their website is www.phius.org.
