The MTC was expanded to respond to changes in the welding field and instruction of Stick, MIG and TIG welding for the Marcellus Shale Workforce Development and Certification Programs. The robotic welding program has also grown. Additional instructional spaces, various forms of traditional welding, as well as those employing robotics, were addressed. Each of the new 90 concrete panel booths has dedicated lighting directly to the bench, and a manifold for various inert gases.
The receiving area, a 900sf manifold room, material storage areas, the tool room, an air compressor room with suspended acoustic panels and introduced numerous locations of power cut-off switches for safety were addressed. The main entrance was completely redesigned to be prominent with a oversized vestibule and bike storage. 18 offices, 2 conference rooms, a kitchenette, 4 classrooms, and 2 testing labs were also added.
