A new state-of -the-art student union was designed to be extremely flexible and collaborative for the technology integrated university.  The 7,950 gsf Student Union, located in the Whitaker Arts and Science Center, has dedicated collaborative learning and small group areas, private study and conference rooms, student club meeting space, an Aquaponics Lab, fitness and gaming areas and a self-service Bistro. A Wellness Center for counselors and tutors create a full-service experience ensuring students are achieving the highest level of engagement.

A custom designed amphitheater serves as a multi-purpose venue that is outfitted with a multi-media, 3×3 seamless video wall display. An Aquaponics Lab is surrounded by all glass, to visually engage students and visitors. It is equipped with two fish tanks and media beds in addition to NFT Tables producing plant material.

A portion of the Whitaker Center’s interconnecting stairwell was altered to separate the science center from the student union, which created additional space for a mezzanine.  This space can be used for a fitness and gaming area plus additional study areas. All Photos by Minick Photography, LLC.
