The design of the one-of-a-kind cutting-edge Training Arena was inspired by a skate park, another “alternative” sport. Utilizing multiple levels, design elements included flexibility, adjacencies, integrated technology and access, lighting, acoustics and security.  Murray’s also custom designed the floor lighting and tables.

The 6,100 gsf facility has one of the largest video walls on the east coast, 30 gaming computers, 24-inch monitors with high-end graphic cards configured by HP Omen, ergonomic gaming chairs from Respawn, a coaching room, student lounge and large collaborative area.  This is the first varsity Sports Team for Harrisburg University which is also supported by scholarships.

“The school’s (Harrisburg University) esports training facility is state of the art. DC comic books, Lego action figures and vibrating massage therapy balls lie scattered next to HP OMEN monitors and ergonomic gaming chairs. The 2,500-square-foot space, known as Stage 2, is a gamer’s haven.”

“We couldn’t do what other people were doing, which is ‘Here’s a glorified computer lab or a rehabbed classroom, and we’re going to call that the home of our esports’.  That’s not going to make an impact.  That’s not going to raise brand awareness, and that’s just not good enough.”
