Harrisburg University, Harrisburg, PA
The design of this distinctive and energizing training and practice arena was inspired by a park for skateboarding, another alternative sport. The flexible and accessible design incorporates multiple floor levels and integrates technology, lighting, acoustics and security to form a worthy and effective stage for the Storm, Harrisburg University’s dynamic and scholarship-supported eSports team.
The 6,100 gsf arena has one of the largest video walls at an East Coast college. It also accommodates the requisite technology hardware–30 gaming computers and 24-inch monitors with high-end graphic cards configured by HP Omen–as well as ergonomic gaming chairs from Respawn. Augmenting the main training space are a student lounge, coaching room and a large collaborative space.
Murray was responsible for interior architectural design as well as custom design of the floor lighting, student desks and tables.
“The school’s (Harrisburg University) esports training facility is state of the art. DC comic books, Lego action figures and vibrating massage therapy balls lie scattered next to HP OMEN monitors and ergonomic gaming chairs. The 2,500-square-foot space, known as Stage 2, is a gamer’s haven.”
